About

Hi, my name is Motiejus Vaura and I am an editorial illustrator for hire. I focus on creative visual storytelling for editorial pieces, exploring new and unseen symbols and gags to enrich the reader’s experience. I love nothing more than clever, sophisticated cartoons that evoke curiosity in readers and show proper respect to the subject. That’s where my great admiration for The New Yorker comes from.

In 2018, I completed my bachelor’s studies in Applied Graphics at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Additional studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Frosinone deepened my skillset and understanding of graphics and fine art. Driven by an ever-growing curiosity for the art world, in 2021 I earned a master’s degree in Sculpture back in Lithuania.

Learning and working within the creative field is what I strive for. This year also marks my 10th year of freelancing as an illustrator—a privilege that has allowed me to mature as both an observer and a translator between the drawn and the written word.

As an illustrator building a freelance career, I have delivered artistic work to businesses, advertising agencies, private commissioners, and local communities. Yet the most interesting projects are the ones that require a deeper understanding of the subject and offer an opportunity to reveal new sides of human nature.
